Assignments

The objective of this assigment was to constuct three different icons to represent three different occupational categories. The first icon I chose to make was a camera to represent photography. In the design, I incorporated the lense and the flash. I wanted to make it very simple and to the point. The next icon I put together was a hair blow dryer. I chose this item because when I see it I immediatly think f getting my hair done and the the design is suppost to represent a hair salon. The third and final icon I designed was a single rose. I love how the sharp-looking intense stem compares to the soft curvy flower bud at the top.

The objective of this assignment was to create a texture grid of nine different sections. The first row of three was focused around texture.  I think the first one does the best job of utilizing this because it looks like the bars are overlapping each other. The second row was dedicated to negative and positive space. The last one, in my opinion, does this the best because you see the black shield-like shapes and the white triangular shapes. The third and final row demonstrates value. The flowers in the first value design shoq this the best, in my opinion.

The objective of this assignment was too create our own color wheel that includes primary, secondary, and tertiary colors, with one object alined to an inner circle and another in an outer circle. I picked a sailboat and an anchor because i felt like these two objects worked together visually. When I look at the warm colored half of the color wheel i think of the sun setting on the water. When I look at the cooler half of the wheel I imagine the water and the sky while out at sea.

The purpose of this assignment as to create a Pop Art piece similar the artist, Andy Warhol's, pieces. In this design we were to include four different color schemes. My favorite quarter is the bottom left. It shows a monochromatic color scheme. The purpose of this assignment was to create a photo mosaic.  First we picked a large picture as a background and then twenty or so other pictures that all correspond with a certain theme.  I chose london for my theme. If you look closely you can see tiny images of double decker buses, the London Eye, and Big Ben of course! You can also see the British flag. I chose this theme because I love how this city is so preserved. They do not try to modernize everything but take pride in the structures that were built hundreds of years ago.
In this assignment I used photoshop to create a delicious candy castle. If I was a little kid and I was allowed to cross the road, this is definitely where my wildest imagination would take me. The bushes are made of cotton candy and the sun is made of sour gummies and mnms! The gates are made of lollipops and candy canes and the sidewalk is made of jellybeans.
In this assignment I used used layer masks in photoshop to slip myself into a picture of one of my favorite bands, Two Door Cinema Club! It took just a little bit of cutting and shading and then I could be seen with my elbow on the lead singer's shoulder!
For this project we were to find letters in nature as well as furniture. It really utilizes point of view and looking at things a different way to find the letters and group all of them together.
In this assignment I used Adobe Illustrator and with the help of "Typography" I was able to pull off this Eiffel Tower. The Trees are made of "E"s and the middle is made of "T"s! I could have definitely put some more detail into my design with shading or even added some things in the background but I really did love manipulating the fonts and individual letters to make my design come alive!
In this assignment, we utilized the use of figure/ground, formal balance,  and repetition. We used negative and positive space. We also used different fonts in every single square to learn about the different typefaces.

In this assignment I used typography and imagery to create a design. I chose the lyrics of a song and an appropriate font to go with a picture I took at my lake house. I think it came together very nicely.

TIMELINE: In this assignment I had to think of a creative way to show the history of communication. I decided to go with a book shelf because books have A LOT to do with communication and we would be lost without them. I used both Illustrator and In Design and it turned out pretty neat!
